Belive it or not, they're doing it. There will never be another Big Red Machine, but those days were great. The Reds need to develop pitching and young prospects. The farm system is finally starting to recover from the Marge Schott years. Lindner was a stop gap to keep the team in town, but now the proper focus is there. They don't have the money to buy players. Adam Dunn is untradable with his late season numbers and high salary. Homer Bailey is the future. they have locked up Harrang and Arroyo, and look pretty good 1-8 if everyone stays healthy and plays up to theri potential. This will be the year that Reds fans finally get to see Denofrio and the other youngsters our farm team has been producing and we will compete. That's the kind of optimism spring is all about. Let's hope it works out. BTW. Do you not love Ryan Freel? GO REDS

I live in Cincinnati, and I believe that the Reds need to work on the hitting more then the pitching. We have Adam Dunn, but he's not very consistent. Griffey is always injuring him, whether it's going for a ball and hitting the wall, or wrestling his kids, he always finds a way to injure himself. We have some good hitters though that once in a while can pull it up big, but they lack consistency. From what I said before, it's not that we don't ned some work on pitching, because we do. Bronson and Harang can't carry the pitching by themselves, so we might need some more pitching weapons.

As long as the Cardinals stay one step ahead of them like last season I don't care what they do.
