I'm asking because I do it so that I can spend more time with my kids, when they are awake..I'm just trying to get a percentage of people that feel the same way.. I thank you...

My ex and I both worked nights to earn more money - nurses earn nice shift differential. Grandma took care of the kids until they started school, then wifey and I were awake and ready to deal with the kids when they got home from school.

I would work the night shift if I could for the same reason that you do. Unfortunatly the company I work for does not have a night shift. I work from 7:30 am to 5:30 pm Mon. through Fri. and only get at the most two hours with my kids before they are in bed. It's very hard to not be able to spend more time with them. I totally agree with you wanting to work nights to spend more time with your kids!

There are a lot of reasons. One being it usually pays a bit more. Another is because of rising day care costs. With one partner working days and the other working nights they have less money going towards day care because the other parent takes over with maybe only a couple of hours spent in day care a day rather than an entire day. It could be the only available shift at that pint in time. I worked nights for awhile because of the day care costs and it was the only shift available.

I am starting nursing school, and my intent is to work night shifts. I hope to have early dinner with the family tthen head to work- my husband taking over bedtime and kid duties for the evening. I would then be home in time to take them to school in the morning and sleep for a few hours while they are not home. I think in some situations when you want to be with your kids it makes sense.

I think its great if you can handle it. Its very hard to change your internal clock. Just make sure you are getting the rest you need to stay healthy and to care for these children properly. Being tired and cranky will make the kids cranky too. Other wise good job mom.

my mom did and i liked it cuz like you said, she could take us places and do stuff with us when we're awake. plus my dad was home at night to watch us.

to see their kids more they are working while their kids are sleeping but working overnites is hard you are used to being asleep however if you go back to days from working overnite it is harder to get readjusted.
