"Proving that he had an ear for a hit, BMG offered Simon the position of A&R Consultant in 1989. His time at BMG saw him pioneer some of the biggest selling hits in the industry, including bands 'Five' and 'Westlife'. He can also be credited with the emergence of TV hits from the likes of cartoon puppets 'Zig & Zag', 'The Teletubbies' and 'Robson & Jerome'."

"But Cowell can claim credit for Irish superstars Westlife and the hit album A Teletubbies Christmas. "

"Luckily, he was approached by BMG to set up his own music label. Cowell first began producing records for television shows, including the WWF, Power Rangers and Teletubbies, and also signed and managed several popular music acts, including Westlife"

Simon produced the teletubbies CDs. He was known for taking TV characters and making albums with them.

It's a childrens programme on UK TV. It's probably a reference to the fact that Cowell is slightly overweight. The Teletubbies are little tubbuy creatures called "Tinky Winky" "Dipsy" "Laa-Laa" and "Po". They live in a magical land where anything can happen. It is the land where television comes from. When the wind blows , a magic windmill brings pictures from far away, joining the Teletubbies to the world of real children.
