Yes because his replacement is a washed-up never-was and never-will-be. Wade Phillips is a very inadequate choice for that job.

It will affect them, but I don't think it will be any kind of disaster.
There is no disputing Parcell's past acomplishments but I did not see the same fire about him as he had with the Giants, Patriots and Jets. The team seemed undiciplined and unfocused on what had to be done to me, which wasn't characteristics of a Parcells team of the past.
You can't have you #1 reciever flying off to exuberiant birthday parties on the west coast, or hanging out with the Philadelphia Eagles the night before a huge conference game.
You can't have your starting quarterback warming up on the field with his girlfriend.
Things like that show that the team was too laid back and unfocused.
If Phillips can instill some disapline and get them focused, I think they have the players to do very well.
Win the super bowl? probably not, but I think they can win their conference and get into the NFC title game.
Don't blame all the drama on T.O., that was the media's doing.
I'm no fan of T.O. but the media was just relentless with that crap.
I think the best thing that could have happened to Romo was his fumbling of that field goal try in the playoffs, maybe he will wipe that goofy smile off his face and get serious about being a starting QB.
That's how I see it, for what its worth.

Not in the sense that he is a vital part that cannot be replaced.
However he has a record of seeing writing on the wall and bolting before a team tanks. The Giants, Patriots, and Jets all went downhill when he left. Each may have had different reasons, but the common thread was Parcells saw them and ran.
These will not be Dallas's "salad" years.
But did Parcells affect the downfall or just see it.
Then again there is Barry Switzer as a role model for the next guy.

Yes. Parcells is a definite loss to the Cowboys. The next coach must have the same kind of work ethic and control over the players. If not, the Cowboys are once again headed down.
Chow!!

Well, actually, Bill Parcells may come back to the team. He wants to pull off the same trick Bill Cowher is. He'll stay away for a while, than come back to his favorite team. I'm not sure what team he'll come back to, but they say that Cowher is going back to the Browns like he did in the 90's. And well, you won't catch me arguing, I live in Ohio. But, in the Parcells case, the team will do good with or without him. It was just a simple miss-hap that Romo slipped up. But, if only Terrel Owens stayed with the Eagles, maybe Parcells would have stayed. (They live to hate each other). And, well, I think the team won't do as good, but still great. Hope this helps.

the cowboys are hurt by his retirement, not really because of bill, but because of his replacement...wade phillips? he has had some success as a head coach, but he has been a failure in the playoffs and, at least i don't think, that he is the guy to take them to the super bowl...TO did not cause nearly as much drama as was possible, but i think theres a chance he'll be OK this year because he probably won't be butting heads with a defensive guy like phillips...the bottom line is, the cowboys downgraded significantly at the head coaching spot, and they may not feel the effects in the regular season, but in the playoffs they will miss parcells' wisdom, although he himself never managed to win a playoff game there

Bill Parcels left behind a team on the move. Wade will not veer very far from what brought them into the playoffs in the first place. Ramo didn't look bad in the Pro bowl either.

Media Hype, Owens and Parcels would be sturdy at the same time. Parcels did nicely with Keyshawn Johnson who replaced into coming removed from a foul undertaking like Terrel Owens. enable Owens play and you will do nicely.

Of course it's going to affect the team. Losing one of the greatest coaches ever is going to affect your team. But, I don't think they're going to reach their peak with TO on the team. His mouth and drama as you mentioned, is just going to bring the team down. As far as Tony Romo, I'm not a huge fan. He's an upgrade from Bledsoe, but I don't believe he's going to have anywhere near the same success he did this year.

I agree...basically, I think they took a step back...Wade Phillips will not be the long term coaching answer for the Cowboys...He was in Denver, with ELWAY, and he didn't do anything special...
