My computer cashed not to long ago, i know someone (who is has a drg in elect) to fix the computer, i had to put a new power supply and a new motherboard.. When i got the computer back it seem to work fine, until the next day, i went to use the keyboard and it wont register the damn thing. I have done everything you are to do, shut it down, I went in to see if he forgot to set it to ps2..I now have to buy a new one, after i just spent $200.00 rebilding it.. Just never heard of a keybord not working (the computer is only 3ys old) (emachine)

check for broken bent pints, maybe straigten them if they are broken... make sure it is in the correct ps2 port.. see if works prewindows... try hitting the keys that get you into the bios.. (f1 f2 esc or del usually) try seeing if you can get into safemode (f8 right before windows loads) .. maybe test with another keyboard if you can to see if it is the mobo or the keyboard before u get a new one... you can find them pretty cheap at yardsales or goodwill stores.. usually like a dollar or 2...... good luck to you

Check to make sure none of the pins are broken off on the connector.

Also, Ps/2 keyboards need to be plugged in while the computer is off.

They can stop working just like anything else. The bright side is you can buy them from Wal-Mart for as little as $7 or $8.

it really sound like the new board. it should be detected when the system first starts to boot at bios start up. take it back to where it was fixed and tell them to do it right. or you'll contact the better business bureau
