Well, it depends on what kind of look you are going for. Vintage or rockabilly.

Rockabilly, go for black and red, skulls, cherries, stripes and stand-up bass. Think dirty, think wild, think rock n' roll.

If you're going for vintage, baby pink and light turquoise/baby blue, poodles, records, white polka dots, big black sunglasses, music notes and jukeboxes, soda shoppes and geometrical shapes that look like this:

Also, go to this next page and when it loads, look in the upper-left corner where it says "dresses", see that black star next to dresses logo? Use those stars. So cute!

Watch reruns of "Happy Days"for ideas. Think of Elvis movies. Blue jeans and black leather jackets for the boys.
Poodle skirts and circular skirts in general with white blouses and a little silk scarf tied around your neck. Saddle shoes. penny loafers or ballerina shoes for the girls.
Use some pink and some black and just make it a happy time.
The colors are not as important as the music because that is what defines the 1950's
