If they do it in person, it's because they want to make conversation, they're bored, or they're uncomfortable with silence. If it's here on Yahoo Answers, it's because they want a different perspective. Maybe someone can approach it in a way they didn't think about it. Also, I think people like to hear other people's similar stories so they don't feel alone. It's nice to know other people have been in situations you have been in. Other than that, I don't know.

To get dumb answers. Doesn't matter to me though, if they want to ask dumb questions and waste 5 points for doing so, and if I earn 2 points for posting a comment, then so be it.

I've asked this question over and over again. Either they are looking for some stupid kind of attention or they are as dumb as they sound and nobody should be that dumb.
