Yes. For the most part, we're a superficial society as evidenced clearly in our media. Ugly people are not as successful as atrtractive ones, don't get the best jobs & are probably depressed most of the time. It's sad.

People can usually improve their looks. The average person is not a beauty queen. What REALLY is most important is what's on the inside. If a person can overcome his/her low self esteem and work to grow emotionally, mentally and spiritually he/she can have quite a happy life. If they waddle in self pity and don't try to change themselves, but let themselves see only the negative in their interactions with others, they will remain unhappy. The way we are treated by our parents is also a determinant in our opinion of ourselves. Parents need to always try to build self confidence in their children. Also, everyone needs to find something that they are good at and develop that talent. I've known "beautiful" people who were as ugly as sin once you got to know them. Don't be too quick to judge.
