Someone who shows bravery and courage in the face of difficulty and struggle. It can be spiritual, physical, emotional. Someone who will take chances and face odds, even if they are hesitant, someone who gives all they have for what they believe in, someone who wants to make a difference and sacrifices everything to do it.
They don't have to be perfect. They shouldn't be the uber-person, but rather someone who wants to see change either globally or personally.

In literature, any of my heroes fit a simple mold - they rise above both external and internal problems in order to benefit the greater good. They don't necessarily have to be the folks with the biggest guns, superhuman intelligence, or a sharp wit, but they do have to have an element of being human, and therefore, somehow flawed. A hero must also be someone I can eventually look up to, meaning that they must do something rewarding, something brave, or something admirable.

Some of my favorite literary heroes include Roland the gunslinger from Stephen King's Dark Tower series, Frodo Baggins and Samwell Gamgee from The Lord of the Rings, Hamlet, and many others.

Man or woman that goes above and beyond the call of duty to do what is right.

That's straight-up vanilla hero, there is also the flawed hero, who will sometimes, or even often back out or show signs of cowardice, but will still occasionally pull through, and there is the anti-hero, who accomplishes what they believe to be right through sometimes negative actions.

Some one who takes care of their kids. Not just by holding down a job or paying child support but truly supporting them. Both physically and emotionally. Providing those kids with a safe, secure & mostly happy home. I realize how hard it is to do this and that is why I feel if a parent who does do it...is definately a HERO.

Some one who holds down a job, stays off drugs, doesn't beat anyone, pays their bills and loves themself. That's a HERO.

A child who listens to their parents, respects adults, respects themselves, tries their hardest in school, shows empathy to others...is a HERO.

ALL those who joined our military so I would be able to tuck my babies into bed each night safely in this FREE country...HEROs...God Bless our HEROs!

Someone who doesn't let FEAR or COMPLACENCY stop them. They are proactive in life and they never give up. They take initiative. Instead of dreaming, they will make an effort to make it a reality. They believe that the sky is the limit! =]
