Perish the thought. There are definitely some sounds I could do without, but not the sound of nature, birds, bees, a gentle breeze rustling the leaves, and I've just enjoyed a few quiet moments when the only sound was that of my clock ticking.
If you had to rely on your sight, you can only see what is in front of you, or in your field of vision, whereas sound is all around you. I don't think it would be safer.
I feel sorry for those who cannot hear, it must be especially hard for them if they have lost their hearing rather than being born deaf.
Also, with symbols and lights, how would the visually impaired cope, they rely on sound.

no, it would not only make our lives, as well as the world, dull but also dangerous, uncivilised and worse than ever. can you imagine someone being abused or raped in the middle of the night in a dark alley and whenever she screams, her voice can be barely heard from a couple of miles? that would be awful. or music- without music, our lives would be devoid of any excitement, passion, thrill. music is a thrill that we get a kick out of and i love it to bits. so my answer is no, it won't be a better place whatsoever

Some people are very noisy, but what are you going to do!
I have a friend who speaks very loud and sometimes I tell him: If you were mute, you would be a beautiful person!0!
But then he reminds me of a mute guy we both know who is extremely noisy!0!
Oh we!!
Nah, too boring without noise!0!

That's a sad thought. What if you could never here laughter or a child giggle.Or hear the roar of a crowd at a football/rugby match. You could never hear someone say I love you.You could never hear the rain or the rustle of leaves all of which invoke special memories.

I agree with the others - what kind of world would it be without music?
It chills the crap out of me.
What we need is selective deafness - i've trained for years and I now don't hear a word my wife says.
