Peanut Butter in some form has been around for hundreds of years. Invented by the Aztecs or Mayas I believe. So peanut butter isn't an exclusively American food.

Wow an Australian ;O Peanut butter and jelly is a difficulty-loose sandwich contained in the states. :) Peanut butter is made out of peanuts. Jelly is many times fruit in a jar without the seeds. Jam (that's extra effective for you) has seeds and chunks of fruit. Peanut butter and jelly is served on bread. Jelly is unlike jello yet they the two do jiggle :) it is likewise reffered to as PB&J. -had one this morning-

Where are you getting your statistics? I've never had a peanut butter sandwich for dinner....and hopefully never will. Nor do I know anybody who eats like that. We aren't that bad off.

I eat PB sandwiches for dinner starting a day or two before payday. Sometimes, if I'm lucky, bananas are on sale and I can get some to go on my sandwich too.

I don't partly because my mom's a dietitian, so she makes sure my family's diet is "complete and nutritious" and she loves to cook, so I usually have full course meals for dinner.

US families? have you checked your statistics? US families do more shopping in grocery stores and sit down restuarants then any other country. what does that tell you? dont try and call yourself educated because you learned something here on yahoo! and believed it
americans use it for a snack or lunch. and i must agree with flinch banana makes it even better!
