Historically Iran has never invaded another country.
If things had gone as planned in Iraq the US would have been strategically placed to bend Iran to the will of the Neo Conservative agenda.
They did not and as a result Iraq became such a quagmire as to render the threat of a military invasion on into Iran extremely difficult to pull off.
If we had succeeded in Iraq it is highly unlikely any military action into Iran would have been necessary considering the Military might standing ready on their borders on two sides, Iraq and Afghanistan..
However as events turned disastrously against the administrations plans in Iraq , Iran saw a narrow window of opportunity to make an all out attempt to develop a tactical nuclear weapon as a deterrent to any future US military invasion.
IMO this is a hail Mary on thier part acting in self defense and they would probably not have attempted the Nuclear card had the Administration not grandstanded an all out unprovoked first strike against Iraq in retaliation for 9/11, WMD. Alkaeda and 9/11 connection, Yellow cake, not enough troops to maintain security imeadiatly after the invasion, Paul Bremmer's crusade against Bathist's and all that happy horse manure that served to cripple our ability to deal with terrorsts and politics in the entire region in general as well as to motivate countless Muslems to take up arms against us . The only issue I have with it is when are we going to turn it into a glass parking lot.

Pleeeezzzz turn the key and push the button. I'm so tired of having to see ahmaweeniejob in the style section of the NYT.

There is nothing "peaceful" about that nutcase and his country of islamofascists. The world will be a better place when we send them all to their virgins.
