if dems are such champions of american working people, why did nancy pelosi let the workers in an american territory(american samoa), whose bosses have headquarters in san fransisco (pelosi's district), not have the increase? do you think its odd that the ONLY companies in the entire country that don't have to come out of pocket for the new minimum wage have headquarters in nancy pelosi's district?

I don't necessarily find it odd that a Democrat would make that happen, no.

Right now the issue is the illegal occupation and conflict in Iraq. Your making light of a mini-scule issue--Why not step up and worry about something that affects yourself, the country, and the world in general?

The better question about the minimum wage issue is: Why couldn't Republicans allow a minimum wage increase without a tax-relief package?

By the way, any area of the country that has mandated a minimum wage increase saw a corresponding growth to their economy--disregard defeastist (R) arguments.

If Democrats are such champions of the American working people then why do they continually support the most profitable business in the whole wide world continuing to suck the American economy into the tank.

Why do rank and file Democrats seem so utterly obtuse to the fact that the liberals are just as much the party of the rich as the Republicans are but that they create programs/taxes to take away money from the public to then create regulations/bureaucracy to give that same money back to the public whereas the Republicans tend to prefer us to keep our own money and solve our own problems.

The only thing minimum wage does is increase the cost of good and services, which the consumer pays, because business owners are going to keep their profit margin the same. Minimum wage supporters are just as silly as supporting term limits.

All term limits do is give political lobbyists unlimited power while limiting the power of the public to re-elect good public servants. It sounds like a good idea but when you look at it in terms of the real world term limits is just as dumb as the minimum wage.

Damn. You figured it all out. The minimum wage is really a conspiracy between Pelosi and the American Samoans to get an extra $300 in profit over the next 5 years.

Yes, yes, all well and good. I would point out that everyone who said this is what happened don't actually exist. That is because no one said she definitely left them out on purpose. They suggested that she did, and hinted that she did; but they never actually came out and said yes she did. Which is the best way to lie, by not actually saying a lie and only planting the idea in the minds of people who wanted her to fail anyway.

In essence, you wanted to find something wrong; and the Republican leadership (and more importantly the media--pretty strong evidence toward their not being liberal) used that fact to plant in your mind that Pelosi did something wrong. Not one person came out and actually said she did it, absolutely she did it. That suggests to me (of course, I'm not saying this--I'm only suggesting it) that she didn't actually do anything. That this was simply an oversight that deceitful people tried to use to sway good people.

Look, I know full well the Democrats did the same thing on a number of occasions (though not very well, they aren't as good at this lying thing; though they seem to have the incompetence thing down pat). But you must remember that almost everyone on TV or in the radio (and definitely in politics) is out to try to trick you in some way to get you to pay attention; whether it be for ratings, commercial ads, or your vote. You must pay attention better, don't believe anything unless they are willing to come out completely, don't trust suggestions. And look for evidence (albeit even that can come back to hurt you, eh Mr. Powell?).

I think we should get rid of the minimum wage. The only people who pay it are small businesses who hire high school kids. No one at a major corporation works for minimum wage, not even burger flippers at McDonalds or greeters at Wal-Mart. And if people want a raise they should earn it on merit not be given it by the government. Thanks and have a nice day.

Don't you find it odd that politicians have no problems voting themselves pay raises, but balk every time a minimum wage increase is mentioned?
