If you're lookign for safe and convenient in the Dallas area (Near North Dallas...not Fort Worth. She said Dallas folks), Addison is the place to go. Up and down Belt Line road there are many venues to check out including:
G Lounge (Next to Go Fish!)
Pete's Dueling Piano Bar (Above Jimmy John's)
Chammps Sports Bar
Black Finn (Great Irish themed bar)
Duke's Original Roadhouse (Sort of a meat market but they've got an outside patio)
Zen in Addison Circle is also a great bar. Metro Retro just replaced the Velvet Hookah on Addison Road. It's cheesy but fun.

Mid-twenties..and definitely say go off of lower greenville. You won't be disappointed. Theres a great mixture but its not too overwelming. Ft Worth is pretty casual too, like everyone else said but Lwr. Grnvlle takes the cake on mixing in the fun.
DOWNTOWN is a NO GO.
Deep Ellum is freakin weird now- and West End is goin to the dogs.

Go to downtown Dallas, West End, and hit Dallas Alley, where there are a variety of clubs all right there together, or try Deep Ellum if you like more funky, younger crowds. Greenville Ave. in North Dallas is loaded w/ night spots. Hope ya'll have a great visit!

Go to Beltline road in Addison, This is a very cool place to hang. Take the Dallas North Tollway past 635 to the Beltline exit and go left towards Addison Road.

West end Sucks, I went there for the fiorst time in over two years last summer. I will not go back. Most of the bars and resturants have closed. It is also getting scary there. McKinney Ave, Is better. Lots of decent affluent people there. Also if you are up for an adventure. Greenville aveneu is alive and well.

My friend just came to Dallas last weekend with her fiance', she was mugged, beaten, robbed of all their money in the parking lot of the Adolphus Hotel downtown. She spent two days in the hospital before going home, an experience she will never forget. If you must go out I would go to the "WestEnd." Crime still occurs in that area but it is somewhat safer than "Deep Ellum"
Personally, I have always felt 100% safer walking around the streets of NYC rather than downtown Dallas, night or day!

I would check out the whole trendy Uptown area - its around Mckinney and Lemmon. There are a lot of young (20 somethings) people around, chic shops, good restaurants and great bars. Some bars... Quarter Bar, the Loon, Corner Bar, Primos, Ginger Man, Republic...

Go to the places that people listed in either Uptown (Quarter Bar, Corner Bar, Idle Rich, Primo's, etc) or Addison (Dukes, Sherlocks, Flying Saucer, Blackfinn's). Uptown is going to be a bit more of a see and be seen crowd, and Addison tends to be more casual but I love both of them. They're both pretty clean areas, but expect to valet in Uptown.
Whatever you do, don't go to Deep Ellum. It can be rather scary, it's very very dirty and people go there more to do X and "dance" (hump your legs) than a casual bar experience. We used to go there often in college, but its gotten too dirty and scary for us in recent years.
The West End used to be awesome, but it's practically dead now, plus has a lot of construction which can make it impossible to park.

I have lived in both Dallas and Fort Worth my whole life and would rather go to Downtown Fort Worth to hang out. Its cleaner, prettier and there are more bars and restaurants closer together down there. So if you go somewhere and its not what you're looking for, walk next door...There's the Library, Paddy Red's, The Pour house, Flying Saucer,,,just to name a few.
From dallas you can take I-30 west to I-35W and go North until you get to the Spur 280 exit and it will take you right in to downtown.

If you go to downtown Ft. Worth all clubs/bars are very casual. I go there every chance I get and everytime I go I go to Billy Bob's and you can go there in some jeans and a shirt and fit in just fine! There are also some pretty good places to eat in the Stockyards too! Whatever ya'll do, hope ya'll have fun!
