I've got type 1 diabetes and pretty cronic thrush. I used to go to the dr but just got sick of going and being ok for a week or two and then getting it back again so I kinda stoped going. I tried cutting out bread from my diet and was shocked that it actually did help, but I still get it a lot. I've kinda got used to it now but I'm scared incase there could be long term effects - esp. cancer, do you know if that could happen?

Hi, no im sure this cant cause cancer.......or I hope not, as i used to get bad thrush at one point, my doctor was really good about it and explained that me and my partner were just passing the infection back and forth even though it seemed like it went away for a while, he gave me some pills which was one or two every month for 3 months and this completely zapped it out my system and touch wood I havnt had it back, have you had these? maybe you could ask for them although for the life of me i cant remember what they are called but the dr im sure would know.

Sounds like the thrush is cause by yeast infections. I doubt that it would lead to cancer, but you need to hear that from a doctor. I am a Type 2 diabetic and occasionally get thrush. Usually I can eat some lite yogurt for a day or 2 and it will go away. I have heard of thrush rarely being caused by viral or autoimmune problems that sometimes corelated to cancer, but it is difficult to say which is cause and which is effect.
There are some breads that are made with little or no yeast, such as buscuits, or pita bread. Of course, you should be watching your carbs.

All thrush is, is a yeast infection. And like any infection, leaving it untreated may lead to a greater area of more severe infection. It is usually benign though so I don't know about it causing cancer.

no u cant get cancer from thrush tho get ur doctor u check if u have too much candida (the thing that causes thrush) in ur bowl which is causing recurrant bouts of it, also wipe urself from front to back when uve been to the loo and eat natural yogurt as thats meant to help too and i dont think it has suger (check the labels) so it shouldent really affect ur diabetes hope this helps

no you cant get cancer from thrush cutting out bread is really good as that is yeast and it breeds on yeast so avoid that and alcohol but i think it can cause pelvic inflammatry disease in some cases if it is ongoing

No it wont cause cancer, try eating live yogurt and if you get it "below" spread live yogurt (unflavored!) on that too. leave it for 30 mins and wash off. It will cool and soothe and fight the infection too
