Why should we care about what Gore or Winfrey or Bono say? Why should anyone listen to a celebrity when all a celebrity represents is someone who thinks their own status in life is greater than yours?

Yeah! The emperor IS naked! Why doesn't anyone bother to state the obvious? Some sycophant thinks B.oner has such an elavated sense of community and desire to rid the world of some malady and then what do you know?; "He HAS to know what he's talking about because he's Bono!"
Face it; he's JUST a singer. Not the best one out there, but just a singer. I respect him for that, but please don't tell me how to save the world. I've already got enough to contend with, B.oner. If you're so uppity about it, how's about you pony up a mil or two for me and I'll spot you back when I can, huh?
You know, when you think about it, singers and actors and atheletes- they're all meant to ENTERTAIN you and I. Why don't they just stick to that and we'll try to take care of the rest. If they feel so compelled to do something, knock themselves out. Just don't go around harping to the rest of us that the sky is falling. Trust me, we already know.

People are far too easily influenced by pop culture icons. Pop culture is the bane of human existence. People are going to the tattoo parlor where Britney Spears got her recent tattoo and requesting the same one in the same place! How retarded is that? I sure will be glad when science finds a cure for stupidity.
The pope is another non-entity that is relished by the masses. Who cares what the pope has to say? It's a joke.

We should care because they have chosen to champion worthy causes.
Sure, they are using their fame to make a point, but at least their point is valid. They are trying to make life better for people. There are many celebs that simply use popular causes to gain publicity.

Plumbers have political opinions, doctors have political opinions, chauffers have political opinions. Why not celebrities? They have access to the same information as everyone else, they are as capable of thinkng as anyone else, why should their opinions be discarded just because they have achieved some fame?

We shouldn't care because they're famous, we should care because they are presenting issues which deserve our attention. There ARE huge problems in Africa and other places that need our help and attention. I think it's great when celebs use their clout for good.

We shouldnt care. They are just people with their own opinions..like everyone else. Just because they are rich and famous doesnt mean they have all the answers.

i agree.....but unfortunately it's regular folks that put these people on a peddle stool, and human nature being what it is....well lets just say it goes to there heads....but not all of us are fooled.
