I have being seeing this guy for a few months now. I know he was in prison for seven years for attempted murder. When i was talking to him i mentioned the word 'kleptomaniac' and he didnt know what it meant, and i was shocked because someone who's been in prison would surely know what this word is,or is he just thick?

btw a kleptomaniac is someone who cant stop stealing things.

If the guy that your seeing is in prison for killing someone but NO stealing from them then why would he know the meaning of the word? More then likely he may have tried to keep to himself and ask as few questions as possible..atleast that is what I would do.. :)

I do not find it unusual that he does not know the meaning of the word though..I would actually be pretty satisfied.

Just because he was in prison doesn't mean he would know what that word meant. It may be a kind of common word that a lot of people know the definition too but, there are a lot of common words used that others don't know the definition too. I wouldn't sweat it.

No, people usually just say steal/stole rob/high jack, I think the word klepto comes from the people with money that do it for fun, or shrinks?
Who wants to be called a thief??
I wouldn't think about it too much, as long as he's on his best behavior:)
