Rectal Bleeding Treatment
Self-Care at Home
If minimal rectal bleeding, such as blood-streaked toilet tissue, is the source of the problem, it may be due to hemorrhoids or a rectal fissure. Home therapy can be attempted. All other causes of rectal bleeding should be evaluated and treated by a physician in a timely fashion.

Self-care of rectal bleeding may include various rectal ointments and suppositories. These can be bought over-the-counter without a prescription. Still, if your symptoms are not improved within 1 week of treatment or you are older than 40 years, you should see your doctor for further evaluation.
Simple home care of rectal bleeding might involve these actions:
Drink 8-10 glasses of water per day.
Bathe or shower daily to cleanse the skin around the anus.
Decrease straining with bowel movements.
Increase fiber in the diet with supplements such as Metamucil or foods such as prunes.
Avoid sitting on the toilet too long.
Apply ice packs to the affected area to decrease pain.
Medical Treatment
Regardless of the source of bleeding, treatment of significant blood loss will begin by stabilizing your condition.

Initially, oxygen will be given and your heart will be monitored. An IV will be started to administer fluids and for a possible blood transfusion.
Further treatment options will depend on the suspected source of bleeding. It is quite likely that a specialist such as a general surgeon, gastroenterologist, or colorectal surgeon will become involved in the treatment plan.
Admission to the hospital is required when a marked amount of blood loss has occurred, if bleeding has not stopped, or if your vital signs have not become normal
When to Seek Medical Care
When rectal bleeding is present with one or more of the following symptoms, call your doctor:

Fever
Stomach pain or swelling
Nausea or vomiting
Bleeding continues or worsens
Recent weight loss
Altered bowel habits
Severe or prolonged diarrhea
Pencil-sized stools, involuntary seepage of stools, or inability to have a bowel movement
If any of these signs and symptoms are present, a visit to the hospital's emergency department is warranted:
Black or maroon stools
Large volume blood loss
Rectal pain
Dizziness, weakness, or fainting spells
Rapid or irregular heartbeat
Difficulty breathing

Normal. Hemorrhoids are very common during pregnancy and can persist. Ask your doctor what is a good treatment for them. It usually involves diet changes, stool softeners and hot baths and maybe a topical astringent like Prep H. They never really go away but should shrink enough to stop actively bleeding.

If they don't stop bleeding after following that advice, go and get a more thorough checkup to rule out other problems.

Sound like hemmerhoids. I've had 3 children and had to deal with them each time. To me they were worse than the vaginal healing process, and I had lots of stiches!!! lol They tend to get reinjured every time you go to the bathroom. I used Tucks...they have witchhazel on them and they are very soothing and help heal. You can also put a hemmerhoid cream on the Tucks and let 'em sit there a while. This is what the hospital nurse told me to do, and I did it for a good LONG time. It helps!

Good luck! :)

you probably have a few small internal hemorrhoids, if the blood is fresh- bright red- then that is likely the cause, if the blood is darker or brownish or black then there would probably be a different more serious problem. if you are concerned then please see your doctor. I'll bet that if you switched to a higher fiber diet and put your feet up more then the blood will go away.

I'm no Doctor but you probably have a hemorrhoid caused by the pressure of giving birth. Call your Dr. and explain the symptoms. It may save you a visit.

You do bleed for a bit after child birth. Are you sure it's coming from your butt and not vagina? I'd check it out the next time you go to the doctor. Just call them and see what they say. Could be hemorrhoids.

it depends on how much blood? is it just a little spotting or an actual good amount (like flowing)? if it is a good amount, i would go to the doctor right away! there could be something wrong with your intestines or digestive system. if it is a little spotting, it might be because you are passing hard poop (sorry for being blunt lol). if you continue bleeding for days i would go to the doctor anyway to be on the safe side.

You probably have hemmorroids. Or you could have an anal fissure (a tear in the anus). It sounds gross, but I had one. I happens from straining too hard. Anyway, when you pass a bowel movement, it scrapes it open again. That's where the blood comes from. They gave me a script for anusol and told me to take it easy on the fiber. You need to give it a chance to heal.

Anytime that your body tells you that something is amiss, you call a doctor's or clinic's office. You can speak with a nurse, and not even talk to a doctor, if that is uncomfortable for you.

But you need to do something, to catch a health problem if it is making it's appearance right now. Don't be foolish.
