My daughter has came home with a maths questionnaire on percentages. I am struggling and just cannot get my head around it. She also cannot fathom it out.
She has to work out - 268 questionnaires were sent out to the public, 119 came back what is this percent? Grateful for any help can you please show how you work this out. thanks

44% is right if you round. (THe exact answer is 44.402985074636865671641791044776)

Heres the method I use to turn fractions into percents:

To find the percentage take 100, and divide it by the denominator of your fraction (bottom number). Then multiply the number you get by the numerator (top number.)

Another way:

Divide the numerator by the denominator.

The first way gets your exact answer with the decimal point in the rite place. The second is still right, but you must use logic to find where the decimal point goes.

Divide 119/268 and you should get an answer of 0.444. Multiply this number by 100 and you get 44.4%.

x/100=119/268, therefore... 268x=11900. Then you divide 11900 by 268 to get x which is your percentage. The answer is 44.4%.
