My payments are going out by echeque, which takes 10 days to clear. I have tried to change payment method on payment, but echeque is the only one available. I have a verified UK Premier account, linked to my bank account (Lloyds TSB), and have not confirmed my address as to do that I would have to link a credit card to paypal, and I don't want to do that.
What do I need to do to change to normal paypal payment method ?
Thanks.

add a credit card it won't use the credit card as payment, but will make it a backup and therefore the payment will be instant. Thats the only way, if you don't have a credit card then you can't do instant transfer. What I would suggest is to link a credit card, then cancel it and they will still thinks its valid(worked for me).

Paypal is safe. I have used it many times and have had no problems. I have registered my credit card with them and made numerous purchases on e-bay. They have no reason to misuse your credit card details. You do have to beware of all the phishing e-mails purporting to come from Paypal which are trying to get hold of your credit card details. I repeat, Paypal is safe - give them your credit or debit card details - they do value your custom and will not give your details to anyone.

Why do you not want a link to your card? I have a debit card, also with Lloyds, and my Paypal account has always worked and never cost me a penny in charges (do not 'upgrade'!)

Do you have funds sitting in Pay pal itself. If not, it's gonna go straight to your bank and take it from there.
Deposit a small amount (say £10) and when going to pay for something it will then give you option of which way to pay.
Using funds that are sitting in Pay pal are instantaneous.

If you have money already in your PP account, you can simply click on the dark blue "send money" tab and the money will be deducted from your PP account. First you must have money showing in your balance. You can send to anyone with a PP account.
