You should go to contol panel_administrative tools_computer management_disk management to configure your extra hard drive and assign it a letter. Even though your Bios may have acknowledged the presence of a 2nd drive, you will have to configure XP to recognize it by assigning a letter (G, F, etc.). I have two hard drives on two different computers and I have to do the same thing everytime.
Hope this helps.

If it is an older drive, I would select "format" instead of quick format. That way it runs a breif check on the hard drive to make sure there is nothing wrong with it.
