Was listening to him on Radio 4's Today - and heard him talk about the situation in Iran - clear prose and with words even I could understand. I know...the danger of reaching your fifties is this - you apparently turn into a Tory. Well, if Hague stood up and shook the history out of his whistle...would seriously think of doing what my Da never did - and what Mother did in 1979 (because she respected Thatcher's ideas), and vote Conservative.

Vote BNP, Private? Ma might have summat to say about that, old son! I do understand what you write about the aura of Hague. The nearest to an Alpha the Tories had was Heseltine - suspect your choice would be Powell.

Nice one, Veritas...his verbal skills were tops, but the Rotherham man wanted to be liked even by socially whupped people in his part of the world (when mining were, thirty years ago the only jobs around...but the good thing was there were lots of them)...but his method to get their votes even made them contemptuous. Remember the '14 pints a beer a day' scherzo, along with his capp'd appearance at Carnival - which even had the socio-economic ABC1's shaking with disgust, from Chelsea to Cheshire. It might be a wee bit hard on Mr. Cameron, but I think Mr. Hague will put the wind up Labour and have both Mr. Blair and Mr. Brown looking over their shoulder - can't see them doing it now with wee bairn David Cameron on the box.

Hear hear, I saw William Hague on tv the other day, he commands presence unlike David Cameron. Why because he is articulate, experienced, holds a good debate and well respected.
This country has become a total mess and there is no reason why the Conservatives can't win the next election but truthfully, they will never win with wishy washy Cameron in power......

He would probably make a better fist of it than Cameron, but would it be credible for them to take back someone who has already lost a general election by a landslide (first time in history that this happened to the opposition party)?

Yeah, maybe he tried too hard to woo the electorate last time.

His hearts in the right place ,he cares about the country and hes got his head screwed on.

Unfortunately ,being short and bald eliminates him from the desired, "alpha male" leaders.

The truth is,even an old school conservative isnt going to make enough impact to bring britain back to the surface.

Vote BNP

He speaks well and is a good man, but unfortunately it is well know that electors don't vote for people without hair. I now this sounds like bull, but it is a true phenomena.

He was OK first time around, it's just that the public were too dumb to realise it. I wonder if the public have matured enough? doubt it.
