Luv the question and luv the cat! You're right on! Take a pill and cure all your problems...ah, but there might be side effects worse than your problem! Don't you wish that could happen without the side effects? Right. You bet. Back in my Hippy days, my dream was that all the world's leaders would sit down at a big table, pass around a huge water pipe filled with pot and solve the world's problems. Dream on. Proper diet and taking less drugs will help more. Did you ever wonder what happens to all those drugs the body expells? They go down into the toilet and into the ground water and.....nuff said.

Makes you wonder, doesn't it? Makes you think twice about making a change in your diet instead of totally relying on a pill. I DID take my doctor's advice and take the medication for high cholesterol, but the side effects were horrendous. I found that by avoiding the foods in question TOTALLY they stopped after 3 days. (stayed on the med. to test it.) I also added fish oil capsules and flaxseed and my c. went way down and stayed down as long as I stayed off the fats.

SO, having the side effects revealed on TV, does help some people take their health care a bit more into their own hands. But it does scare me to hear that you can die from the same medicine that's supposed to cure you. Get a doctor that'll talk to you! And use the Internet!

Use the doctor and your research together, and keep your lab results in a 3 ring binder along with your diet/med. changes as a history. Doctors are always riffling through your charts looking for data they can't find amongst all the paperwork. Warning: type and leave lots of white space. They will skip right over hand-writing. Anything not written by another doctor is usually not interesting to them unless you force their attention to it.

No they don't. Think about it, did they have all these fancy drugs 100 years ago? I don't think so and they turned out just fine. These legal drugs are just another way for the government to control people and get their money. Don't you ever notice in those commericals, they always give at least 5 different symtoms? They do it to catch you. Feeling depressed? Don't feel like yourself? Don't feel like going outside and face the public? Well take this pill and you will feel like yourself again....really?? What they don't tell you is that once your on the drugs and you decided to get off, your worst than when you started. Basically, they don't want you addicted to iilegal drugs, they want you addicted to the legal ones.

Yes...they make me think about ailments that might be horrible diseases and I see the cure has sideffects that make me sicker. I wish they would take this stuff off TV. There is enough stress in people's lives.People dont need to be relaxing after a bad or hard day and see what horrible things might be happening in their bodies. When you're stressed out, you are only too ready to believe that something minor is really something bad. And I don't know how men can make those commercials about their sexual failure and end up smiling because a pill helped them get it on. How degrading.

No, it amuses me that they try to sell a drug that cures one symptom while possibly introducing 20 others.

It only freaks me out that people actually buy them.

But what really grinds my gears is doctors who are essentially salesmen for these companies, taking a comission for prescribing these drugs. There are so many doctors who will prescribe you pills which you don't need or are actually harmful just for a bit of extra money. Can anyone say "drug pusher" ?

Honestly, all television adds freak me out. Watching TV puts a person into a relaxed hypnotic brain state (Alpha) where one is more susceptible to suggestion. Ever notice the same commercials played over and over again while watching an hourly sit-com, show, or even station? Now with the drug adds where they tell you how great it is... then quickly state the side affects as if they are quite meaningless....lol. I cannot name our 14th president but I do know what the drug Ambien may help me do!
The answer...record my shows with TiVo then watch em later!

the whole system freaks me out. Have yellow toe nails?? - take these pills!!! It's a bit frivolous and drug companies are becoming less and less beneficial by trying to sell as many pills as possible, no matter if you need their pills or not.

The whole intent is to have a semi informed consumer going into a fully informed doctor and demand their pills. The doctors will cave in.

The worst one I have heard is Anal Seepage! OMG no it is horrible to take a pill or any type of medicine that will cause worse problems. All it is... is a drug company trying to make an extra buck off poor helpless people that already have a problem and they try to create another problem so you become dependant on more pills in which they make more money.

No, I think they are hilarious. Especially the Male enhancement drugs or the urinary drugs. "Erections lasting for more than 4 hours....."

C'mon that's freakin' ridiculous.

Or the p*ss problem drugs. "do you have trouble going?"

Meanwhile it's four guys on a boat. What they Hell does that have to do with anything?

When the commercial has to spend more time telling you what it may cause as a side effect vs what it can fix then there's something wrong with the drug.
