I assume that the 1500 is your SAT score? And you are in High School?
The good news is that you still have another two years to improve your GPA and your SATs are likely to come up a little.
Private schools in the top 50 are out -- don't even think about them unless you really improve both your GPA and your SATs. If you can bring them both up, you might be able to get into a good state school, a good regional university or a second tier national university.

I'm not familiar with the new SAT, but a score of 1500 out of a possible 2400 does not sound good. Study hard and take it next year. With a 3.0 GPA, you might have a decent chance of getting into a state university. You should focus on raising your GPA. You're only a sophomore, so you definitely have a lot of time to get your GPA up. Take some challenging courses, AP or honors if you can. Keep playing lacrosse. Stick with it until you graduate. Don't get involved in too many school activities. A lot of kids have the tendency to overdo it and list 10+ clubs and organizations on their application. As long as you show dedication to academics and a passion for a sport or activity, then you'll be a stellar candidate.

You mean 1500 SAT?
If you take the top 100 list from the US News report, I think none of them will accept you, unfortunately. Most of the smaller universities in your state ought to though.
Just keep working at it, and you can raise your scores and get to more places.
