Is mother nature simply removing the unwanted genes from the gene pool?

Sorry I didn't mean to cause offense. I simply meant that people claim that they are born Homosexual so therefore it must be genetic and possible linked to evolution.

I am suggesting it is perfectly natural to be homosexual I am sorry if you find this offensive.

i think you have misunderstood I am suggesting nature makes individuals who contain ANY unwanted genetic code homosexual therefore hindering the chance of it continuing to the next generation. I am not suggesting nature wants to remove homosexuality. Quite the contary in fact I think nature is battling against our proliferation and unnatural longevity.

In every species culling is done within the species by the species. Members of the species will kill off or place in the position to be killed those of it's members that deviate from the norm, or those that can't contribute to the continuation of the species. This is no longer true in most cases of Modern Man. We change our society to adapt to the weaker, the physically and mentally challenged, and those who do not propagate the species. Or we provide for them the means to adapt to society. So while in every other species your premise would be true, it isn't for Man because Man tries to place back into its gene pool what would otherwise be eliminated.

BTW The gene pool is large, so naturally it's going to take centuries on end to fully eliminate any one genetic trait from it.

And not every couple that births a child with a specific genetic trait will birth only children with that trait, so the gene can get passed down by the other children they have as a recessive, and continues in the gene pool that way. Other species will sometimes attempt to eliminate an unwanted trait by eliminating not only the one exhibiting it, but also the one it came from. Even so, there are still traits which will arise withing these species to this day that they consider as unwanted, they just emerge less often because of the culling process. So if this is true when a culling process is in place, then it will be even more true when it isn't.

I think Bocabeachbum has answered this question sufficiently. When Mother Nature uses natural selection like you are suggesting, the issue is resolved. But since the issue is not being resolved like that, logically you need to look for something else. The most logical assumption to make, therefore, is that it is natural somehow to be homosexual. As for why, that is still yet to be determined; but the logic suggests that it is natural.

Mother nature must be real lazy about cleaning out the gene pool, considering how long homosexuality has been around.

No. I saw on the discovery channel that all fetuses are initaily female and then grown male parts. Thats why you cannot tell for a while what the sex of a baby is. Sometimes in a fetus that becomes male, if the process takes too long the male mind and horomones never full conform.

Good question. Maybe that's why gay couples have midwifes, and donate their own sperm in order to carry on their gene pool. It could also be a way of lessening the ever growing population too. Who really knows...

We are born the way nature made us. Some of us are way smart some of us are way dumb some of us are pretty and some of us are gay, so called straight, or bisexual or transsexual or transgendered or lesbian. One day people will think what the hell were we thinking about this whole sexual orientation crap. What makes us wonderful in our differences because when it comes right down to it we are all the same.

If it were a genetic condition, but it's not. Plenty of people have changed their lifestyle around, and never looked back.
