I have a question about cartilage piercings.
I have both ear cartilage pierced. Today was the 12 week so I know I'm able to take them out & I have. My piercings are already healed but I have a bump on the back of both of the wholes. I know its normal to get bumps because I have two other ear piercings but on the lobe. Do you know how long it takes for the bumps in your cartliage piercings to go away & if there is any fast solutions to getting rid of them quicker??

If your just going to say dont wear the earrings b/c u heard storys about the cartilage ear piercings I dont need you b/c this is important to me!
Thank you!!

1. cartilege takes 6-9 months to fully heal and you should NOT remove jewelry during this time.

2. I assume you got it punched with a gun (because no professional piercer would tell you it's healed within 3 months or advise removing the jewelry)... the best jewelry for healing is implant grade stainless steel or titanium - and either a captive bead ring or small barbell or labret stud. The butterfly-back earrings collect dead skin and bacteria which is awful for healing. And every time you remove/insert jewelry, you are damaging the hole that's trying to heal. Have a professional piercer insert the appropriate sterilized jewelry for you.

3. the best aftercare is a warm saline soak (1/8 tsp sea salt to 8 oz water) or a gentle antimicrobial soap like satin or provon. NEVER use alcohol or peroxide, it just kills the new skin cells that are trying to heal.

The bumps will not likely go away without proper jewelry and aftercare... I know you'll probably ignore this though so good luck

I just got my cartilage pierced in December. Try putting a little bit of rubbing alcohol on a Q-tip and rub that on the back of your ear once in a while. The back of mine is bumpy too but it's just because the ear has to get used to it. The bumps should go away in like 2-3 months. If it begins to hurt or become red or swollen, see if you can get the ear care soution from the place you got your ears pierced.

I had the cartilage pierced on my ear about 5 years ago. I still have a very small hard bump on the back side of my ear. I feel it when I take my earring out and press on the hole. I don't know that they ever go away, but it doesn't hurt.

Those bumps, assuming they're not keloids won't go away.
