There are many scientists who do not believe that humans are responsible for global warming. There IS still a debate, whether or not the media likes it or not, about whether or not humans caused global warming.
But whether or not it is true, Al Gore CLAIMED that "An Inconvenient Truth" was a documentary. However, since I refuse to even rent the movie, for fear that Al Gore will recieve even a penny from it, I have a question for anyone who watched the movie.
A TRUE Documentary "documents reality", so he would obviously get opinions from many scientists. But in a TRUE documentary, he would also go out of his way to show the opposing viewpoint, since they also have facts to support their theory.
So was this a true documentary? Did he interview Bill Gray, or other opposing scientists? Or was this a Michael Moore-type documentary, where it is only one viewpoint.
If so, we should rename it from being a "documentary" to being an "opinion piece", and quit trying to fool people.

The only theory Al Gore had was a "Manbearpig". Those who know, will understand.

Quite simply there is a consensus. There are a few scientists who disagree with it, many of whom happen to be funded by Exxon-Mobile, but the vast majority of climate scientists agree that humans are the primary cause of global warming. Here's why I say that: In 2004 an article in Science magazine discussed a study by Prof. Naomi Oreskes in which she surveyed 928 scientific journal articles that matched the search [global climate change] at the ISI Web of Science. Of these, according to Oreskes, 75% agreed with the consensus view (either implicitly or explicitly), 25% took no stand one way or the other, and none rejected the consensus. Benny Peiser attempted to replicate the study, and found 34 articles that "reject or doubt" the consensus view--that is, 3% rather than the 0% that Oreskes found in her sample. Only 1 of those papers actually rejected the consensus, and it was an editorial, not a research paper. Another guy did a similar small study of 25 papers to verify the claims, and found 20% explicitly endorsed, 84% explicitly or implicitly endorsed, 16% were neutral, and none rejected the consensus position. Since no research papers rejected the 'consensus', how is that not a consensus?

The only true controversy in the scientific community is over whether or not man is responsible for the warming. The effect of a rise in temperatures is measurable as is its effect on the glaciers and ice shelves in the polar regions. You can't argue with a thermometer, all you can argue with is if its caused by man or a normal climate shift that does occur with time.
Why does this cause so much political discussion?
Al Gore isn't running for weather king so what difference can it make if you watch it? Use your ability to hear what someone has to say and then form your own opinion, that's what mature people do.

Al Gore has admitted that he "enhanced" some of his statistics and examples to bring more relevance and immediacy to the subject of global climate change and man's contribution.
I wonder if I could enhance my resume to bring more relevance to my job search?
It seems that the term "documentary" has lost all of its real meaning of late: examples include Michael Moore's "documentaries" - Loosechange "documentary" and on and on and on.

Al Gore's official position is: Man-made Global Warming is fact, and he doesn't need to be countered by anyone. And if you don't agree with him you're an idiot.

I don't know why this such a right or left thing. Wouldn't it be good for the air we breathe, the nature we love, the need to stop our reliance on oil. I think those things are good for everyone, global warming or not.
