It's best to do whilst they are both young. We had a lovely little dog who absolutely adored our cats, she was a docile little thing anyway. The cat and dog got pregnant at the same time and our little dog even rescued one of the kittens from the garden. They were really close and even when we got new cats, they got on with our dog. I think you need to ensure that you have a breed of dog that isn't too 'excitable' and is generally very docile.
When our little dog eventually died (at a grand old age of 15) the two cats pined for her for weeks. They even slept in her dog bed.......

Cats and dogs can definatly get along. It may be rough at first. Just make sure that both the cat and dog know what you expect of them and what they are not allowed to do. The younger the dog is the better, normally cats will put the dog in its place when they have had enough. Just keep a close eye and everything should turn out fine.
If you're going to get a new puppy crate training is one of the best ways to train a dog. Good luck with your new adventure!

Yes they can but by now your 9 month old kitten may have his/her own personality. It's better to put them together when they are both 6 to 8 weeks old. Our 10 year old dog tried to be friends with a 1 year old cat we adopted. The cat hated him. She would hiss and swing at him every time he would come near her and all he wanted was a friend. Good luck. I hope they are compatible.

Yes, they can be friends or they can be enemies. It just depends on the animals. One of my cats LOVED my roommate's dog. They were together constantly. The other cat usually ran or just ignored the dog.
The way we introduced them worked pretty well. The cats had a safe getaway in my room and we had a baby gate outside the door to my room. The cats could get around it or jump it but the dog couldn't/wouldn't. That way they could look at each other and know the other existed and it was up to the cats (the newcomers) to go meet the dog when they were ready.

They will probably be fine because the almost mature cat will recognise that the dog is a youngster and not be too aggressive toward it. Because the cat is the older and been around longer, it will always be the boss no matter how big the dog grows because they will both have it implanted in their minds from early on that this is the pecking order.

i got a puppy and kitten at the same time...they would sleep together, was so awesome...when my other dog would try to go after the kitten, the puppy would stand between them. They were like that until the cat died.

Introduce the puppy and the kitten slowly. Let them spend a just a little time together at first and then let them spend more and more time together. Since they are both young they should get along well.

yes and no. it really depends on their temper. but my friends dogs and cats get along prefectly fine, even though they just met last year without growing up together. watch ur cats and dogs the first time they meet and see how it goes. if they are still young, that is probably the best age to introduce them to eachother. just make sure they dont star barking/hissing at eachother or something like that. see how it goes, and take it from there. it shouldnt be violent if they are still young

If there are already different canines, i might want to say try yet another neutered male cat. attempt to discover an individual safeguard cat that has lived effectively with both cats and canines before. Male cats seem to get alongside maximum suitable with different male cats, highly at the same time as they are neutered and by no potential competing for females. women are frequently annoyed by male cats even neutered ones.

They are both young. I don't think that you will have a problem unless one of them is overly aggressive. I have 4 cats and a dog. They aren't best friends or anything, but they get along well enough! And believe it or not, the cats boss the dog around!
