I am broke and cant afford a lawyer. all the legal assistants programs say they cant help in a custody case. Is there a way I can get my ex to pay for a lawyer for me cause he has one? a few people have told me this but I cant find anything about this ACT on the net.... any help would be great!

Let me see if I understand this. You don't have money, and you want to fight with your ex about custody of children you share, so you want him to pay for it.

How about this, why not have a conversation with your ex where you both come to an arrangement you both can agree upon, and stop fighting each other.

The children are just as much his as yours. So why not figure out a plan that you can enthusiastically embrace when it comes to co-parenting and present that plan.

You would not want him to take the children totally from your life. He probably feels the same way.

Don't assume he is just trying to get out of child support, or hates you for something in the past. Those assumptions are probably wrong, or at the very least, inaccurate.

Stop feeding the fight, and figure out how to work with your ex-husband.

Otherwise, get a job and earn enough to keep making lawyer richer because two adults cannot sit down and talk about co-parenting.

Well you can chance it, I think if you win he has to pay, I am not altogether sure. Call a local lawyer and explain your situation and see if you cant make a payment arrangement. You wont find much online for Illinois, its called a closed state and they dont give anything online that you can use.

yes i believe there is such a thing.....call a lawyer and ask them they can help you with anything you need to know...but you had better do something quick ....money talks and if he is one step ahead of you on this then it is bad for you....get your butt in gear and call an attorney for free consultation
