how about having a nice hot bath, with lots of aromatic oils just before you sleep.

other than that, read a book on land law or calculus. that should help you drop off real quick lol

I am a strong advocate of exercise to keep the mind and body in synch. You should try working out during the day or walking of course don't exercise before your normal bedtime. Another suggestion is to have a routine of turning off the tv, and the computer an hour before you go to bed. It is nerve racking to have all of those stimulants. Also make sure your room is dark, and the temperature is cool. I also drink chamomille tea to relax me. And most importantly if you are under stress whether it is work, or a relationship you may want to find another outlet to deal with it. And if you do wake up try not to watch tv maybe read a book or magazine. I hope this helps! and sweet dreams :)

PS: I have a website for you. Of course if all else fails there are prescription drugs that your doctor can prescribe to you but give the natural way a shot first.

Oh that really sucks...
If you are wide awake, do not just stay in bed and try to 'make yourself sleep'.
Get up, have a drink, and think about something else. A relaxing hot bath or shower is good too. Freshen up your bed and pillows and then make a fresh attempt. Put on some nice music and try not to think about how much you want to sleep.
Essential oils, such as lavender, are relaxing.
Make sure your room is not too hot, and you have a source of fresh air. Relaxation cd's and self hypnosis cd's are useful.

I am also a member of the insomniac crew. The thing that works best for me is Tylenol simply sleepy and 1 beer or a glass of wine. I know you shouldn't mix the two, but within an hour you will be asleep for at least 6 hours. Good luck and happy sleep.

Are you starting menopause? hormones will mess with sleep. natural things that help with sleep are, drinking enough water a day 1 quart for every 50lbs is ideal, take 2000mg of calcium a day, drink a cup of Sleepy Time Tea, found at your local Health Food or Whole Foods store.
Don't go get hormone therapy just for this- water alone can regulate hormones wonderfully.

What helps me sometimes is a warm drink before bed...like milk. or if that doesnt help a heating pad is a good way to relax you into sleep

avoid doing your werk on bed.go to your bed only when you wanna sleep.get some Camile or lavender aromatherapy oil and sprinkle lightly on you pillow sheets and you bed covers.close your eyes and enjoy the scents.and yes, do not think on you bed,if its time to sleep, relax your body and sleep.tell yourself that the other problems can wait till tmr morning cos its time for your body and brain to rest.

Tylenol PM or Benedryl..I used those for MANY years to sleep through my husband's snoring.. The Benedryl will make you nice and drowsy if you take it about 30 mins before you go to bed. It's safe, we give it to pregnant patients, and it's over the counter.

Sweet dreams..
