Absolutely. It's pretty much great for all ages, although younger kids may not fully understand what's going on...but It's a great musical. I went with my girlfriend to the travelling Wicked Musical in Seattle...and it was great, the Soundtrack is awesome, the acting and singing was wonderful. highly recommend it! and as a newer musical definitely easier to find enjoyable by many. Get a good seat..good luck!.

Most definitely! I think this show appeals to all ages.

Wicked is about how the two witches of Oz know each other. The musical is entirely different, and lighter, than the book. In the musical, the two witches are forced to be roommates at school. They initially hate each other, but grow to become best friends. They go to meet the Wizard, but they find out he's not who they thought he was. Elphaba (the Wicked Witch) turns against the wizard because of what he's doing to Animals.

The second act is about what the girls become - Galinda becomes Glinda the good and Elphie the "Wicked" witch. There's a sub plot about them liking the same guy and about who he ends up choosing, but I won't give that away. AND you find out why Elphaba is so powerful.

The plot kinda sounds dumb just reading it (I thought so, too at first), but it is really a magical experience. I would recommed it for anyone! The story is about these two women growing up and the real depths of their friendship.

Yes, unless he/she is really sheltered & naive, or doesn't like musical theatre. There is NO foul language, NO overt sexual stuff, and the few instances involving violence are tamer than most cartoons, movies, and video games. The musical is different than the book. I think Wicked is much less scary than the Wizard of Oz movie, but it's more fun if you've seen that (or the musical stage version of it) first. Use anything he/she doesn't understand as a teaching/parenting opportunity. You might want to get the CD first so you are familiar with the general story and music, since it is hard to catch everything in one viewing.

I have friends in the Broadway cast and I LOVE the show. Enjoy!

Yes, since it does rely on L. Frank Baum's wonderful series of children's books about Oz. Many Oz characters are present, but the gyst of the whole play revolves around the ways in which negative attributes such as racism, misunderstandings, intolerance, bigotry and prejudice caused the Wicked Witch to become wicked in the first place! These are important lessons for young people to learn, especially in the cynical and mean-spirited world we are living in today. This play sheds a light on how we must all learn to respect each other as well as to treat each other with kindness and compassion.

Yes. It's supposed to be what happened before the wizard of oz. It's appropriate. (especially if you've seen the wizard of oz and enjoyed it) It doesn't have any bad language or anything. I found it rather amusing. The music is incredible. I think you'll enjoy it.

Very.

The book, however, is not the same as the musical - if you're going to buy it for your child, read it yourself first to make sure you feel it's appropriate.

The musical is pretty PG.
