Does anyone else have a problem with their Dell Precision?
On mine the monitor suddenly shuts off and all the tasks that are running on the computer get cut off
the machine is still running though

it shuts off at different times
but sometimes it works perfectly
i have already checked the power settings, screensaver, etc

I had a Dell Precision 400 and I had the same problem. I checked it for Viruses and Spyware, and when that didn't work, I found that it was the Power supply. The wires had some sort of inteference so I returned it to Dell who set me up with an Inspiron which is overall better.

I'm not sure what is causing it to shut off, but you can go to the "control panel" and open "power options" to see what your settings are. You may find a solution there. If not you can go to the Dell website. I've resolved many problems using their website.

Check all your profile settings like Energy Monitor, Screen saver, time outs, etc
Can you actually figure out what the time is like 5 minutes exactly?
