Because we as a society have become accustomed to getting anything and everything we want when we want it. Just look the the future generation being raised and born. They are nothing more then spoiled brats and their parents have become their slaves and money trees. This constant fulfilment of wishes has created whole generations blind to the fact that in the 'real world' you don't always get what you want when you want it and your wishes do not just magically appear on a silver platter but that in fact you actually have to put in the effort and hardwork yourself. This realization, I believe is the cause of the unhappiness so many people have today.

b/c people who were happy with themselves had no motivation to improve and went extinct ages ago.
But there are unconfirmed rumors that some of them survive in third-world countries and ghettoes in the cities of developed nations.
