I would like to put my computer on standby, I click on start, turn off button, then I click standby, it seems to work, but when I come back to it, it won't turn on, the green light comes back to on - on the computer, but nothing else happens. I always have to re-start and then windows wants to do a disc check, (so annoying) Can someone give me advice?

I had this problem with my computer. The first thing to check is that your computer's hard disk has not got loads of rubbish on it. If it doesn't have loads of rubbish on it, try checking for spyware and viruses. Then, if that doesn't work, maybe there is a problem with the internal memory. How many megabytes is it? If your computer is less than 256MB in Ram, you will probably need to upgrade it.

Some computers have issues coming out of standby.

You are going to want to go into the bios and try a different suspend type. Some computers have issues with certain suspend types.

S1= Turns off hard drive and monitor.
S3= Same as above but also turns off cpu and the fans.
S4= Hibernate, writes an entire image to the hard drive then turns everything off.
