My standing vertical, 29"+ and 33" with a running start.
Many times people say calf exercises, but really they only help so much. The calf muscle uses such a short lever(the foot) that it can handle a huge load. For instance, my calves could once each hold over 600 pounds. When your calves are that strong, the key is upper leg- this means thighs and, more importantly, glutes. This is why high flying NBA players and high jumpers don't have huge calves. I don't study people's glute (butt) size, but I would guess that people with high verticals have strong glutes. Do stuff that puts a huge load on your jumping/squatting position. If you decide to do squats, do 8 reps with the max weight you can handle for 8. Don't go all the way to parallel, as that doesn't help the juump and is just pointless, go only as far down as you go when jumping.

I don't know if you own a pair of "Strength shoes". They are raised in the front so that you get a maximum workout of your calf muscles. The authentic strength shoes guarantee at least 6'' to your vertical. The best workout I found with those shoes was just plain running the track. Check it out

Keep playing sports the more you are on your feet the stronger your legs. Also do a lot of walking. I know the best athletes from my neigborhood all walked home from school. I had a freakish 41 inch vert at 5'7" and I was not the only one.
