Yes I do. I would love to erase some things (eternal sunshine o the spotless mind style) so that I could just get over this already. I have moved on, but this one person from my past can still cause me pain. And I am a wise woman, a lot of time and introspection and growth has passed. But still, sometimes the past and my old feelings jump out and hit me smack in the head.

I just work around it. Can't be helped. It's most likely nostalgia and my own nature smacking me around anyhow. So maybe it's all in our heads, not so much our hearts. And it's impossible to constantly avoid caring and the risks entailed. The man who broke my heart got his eventual comeuppance, and then made a stone of his heart, and I can't say that he's any better off. I am fairly happy and I have loved others, so alls well. Today at least!

Still hurts though when it kicks in.

A serious answer, and interesting:
In a study published just in time for Valentine's Day, doctors reported how a tragic or shocking event can stun the heart and produce classic heart attack-like symptoms, including chest pain, shortness of breath and fluid in the lungs.

Unlike a heart attack, the condition is reversible. Patients often are hospitalized but typically recover within days after little more than bed rest and fluids, and suffer no permanent damage to their hearts.

Yes..i wonder about it all the time. But life is all about risks. If you cross the street there is always the risk that a car will smash your head and you will die but we do it anyway right? Some do it everyday. Whe you go grocery shopping there is always the risk that some isane person put poison in some of the food packages...but we buy and eat it anyway right?? We take RISKS. So with men/women its like..we know someone is out there for us and getting our heartbroken is the only way we will find the person who WON'T break our heart. Make sense?

A broken heart, In my opinion, is one of the worst things about the human condition. I still carry the pain of multiple broken hearts, but don't let the pain stop you from moving on. Hang in there! Keep trying. Be true to yourself. Make sure you love yourself. It is hard for others to love you if you don't. If you feel the need, talk to a good therapist. They can help. So can God, if you are so inclined.

Best Wishes!

I have wondered often but what really gets me in how many different things can break a heart.... whether it be family problems or problems with love. It is good the heart can heal or I don't think anyone would make it to their 20s

no.. we are creatures of repetitive patterns like animals goign back to the same drinking poool evenif it is dry... it take s time to develp and 'evolve' away from doign the same ol' things.. that don;t work.over and over again.
Albert Einstinen, said,..
" To do the same thing over and over again with the same negative result is by definition insanity.. you have to re-invent the way you look at thing."

Well cupcake,, that was not word for word but it was really close and it is true!!
Until you choose to address the cause of heart break which is ..all in your own mind, your Mindset), you will always suffer from it. .. everyone path to freeing themselves from this self caused pain is different, for me it was simple as choosing to not be affected by events that r happened to me, and remembering that I want to be happy ALL the time, and just being happy.. I choose not to let that persons lame comment or action effect my happiness.. it's like a lesson for yourself on changing one perception on life and how we interact with others..
