I wish there were more people that had your way of thinking. Unfortunately the world is full of hateful, miserable people, who want the rest of the world to be miserable with them. What irritates me about the gay marriage issue is, these people who are against it use the excuse that the Bible says marriage between a man and a woman. Homosexuality is an abomination. Well the Bible also states divorce is an abomination. They seem to overlook that one. I often wonder how many of these people who state homosexuality is an abomination are divorced, therefore are abominations themselves. These people pick and choose sins from the Bible to suit their lives and opinions.
And to Papa Mac paddy wac whatever your name is......most gay people dont want gay marriage for a friggin tax break you a.sshole. They want it to have legal rights. ***** tax breaks. I want to have my girlfriend added to my health insurance plan; as of now, she has no health insurance. She and I want to be able to make legal decisions regarding hospitization or decisions regarding death should something happen to one of us. As of now, we cannot do that. So take your damn tax break and stick it up your a.ss. I dont know where you get your information, but you are misinformed!

Me and my friend ask the same thing since she's a lesbian. Some people are offended by gay marriage because in the bible god says marriage is man and woman. I understand sort of what god means because marriage usually represents reproduction and only a man and woman can do that naturally. But technology today allows women to get pregnant a different way without the guy. Other people just think it is disgusting to see gay people married and the thought of them having sex. But what I think is if 2 people love each other no matter what sex they are they should be able to marry each other because marriage is not only about reproduction but about love and compassion for one another. But you got to remember that there will always be people out there who hate gay marriage and gay couples.

I know this question will get soooo many different answers on why it is "right" or "wrong". I am not gay but have gay friends. I may not agree with their lifestyle or way of life but it's not affecting me in any way or hurting me at all so why should I care what they do with their life. Yes, the bible does say marraige should be between a man and a woman but what is so wrong with having people of the same sex have a civil union? A marraige is for a man and a woman but a civil union can be for 2 men or 2 women. What is so wrong with that? Some gays may not agree with the straight peoples way of life living with someone of the opposite sex or even marrying them but that doesn't mean that a man and woman can't get married. So, why should we all push our belifs onto them when it is THEIR choice to live or marry someone of the same sex. It's not hurting me or anyone I know so why should I tell them they can't do it.

It is a sin for a man & man or a woman & woman to have sex. But also, the Bible says it is a sin to take another man's life, and not to commit adultry but people do it every day. They are just sinning when they do this. They will have to answer to God when there time comes and if that is the road the choose then noone can change that. Gays & Lesbians know that they are sinning but try to justify it in some way, not sure how you can though. If that is what they want to do then I don't have a problem with it, I just don't agree with it.

As a Christian, I believe marriage is partially a religious thing and the Bible calls for it to be between a man and a woman. Therefore, there could not be such thing as a marriage between 2 people of the same sex. I think we need to preserve "marriage" to be as it was intended to be, otherwise we'll end up with people marrying their toaster.

On the other hand, I personally don't care what other people do in their lives if they aren't hurting anyone and I don't think that my values should be forced on other people. I'm just trying to give you one person's opinion on why people are against gay marriage.

It has to do with keeping the sanctity of marriage intact.
Your opinions, mine, or anyone elses does not mean anything.
The issue is that gays want a tax break if they make the gestures of being married.
The hindrance is to do so it needs to be legal and the rest of society does NOT want it.
As long as it is on folks ballots and they are asked to decide then those that don't think it is good (Majority of legal citizens) will use their 1st Amendment rights to express that sentiment by voting against it and then speaking up against the Washington lobby that wishes to circumvent the democratic process.
Bottom line is that nothing stops gays today from having a ceremony and devoting a life of love to someone. Go for it...knock yourselves out.
Problem is they want tax cuts for doing so and they do not hear the majority of society that keeps saying NO!

My understanding is that they don't want any possible sanction of such a relationship, secular or otherwise. It might make people think it's okay. They're only happy as long as gays are being actively persecuted and hurt.

If you ask me, I think they worry way too much about what other people do in bed. It's none of their beeswax.

It's simple. People say what they do about gays because they are looking for reasons to justify their dislike of gays. They continue to spout many reasons unsupported by reality because of this. They use the argument that you mentioned for saying that gays shouldn't have kids, but apparently they forgot that kids get picked on for EVERYTHING. Why don't we hear them try to promote kids not wearing glasses. that is a MUCH bigger threat to our children. The solution is to teach our kids how to handle these situations, not teach them hatred.

Most people still confuse "LEGAL marriage" with the "religious" cerimony.
They simply can't wrap their peebrains around the concept of LEGAL vs. Religious.
Legal marriages are CONTRACTS, legally binding obligations to another concenting individual.
The mere fact that it's currently resticted, under federal law, to individuals of opposite genders only, is sexual discrimination.

I'm against gay marriage for the simple fact that I'd have so many damn weddings to attend and my wardrobe is rather shabby.
