They will ask, I am not sure if they will check or not or just go by your word. I do know that if you have previously been married and divorced, you will have to get the previous marriage annulled, as if it never happened. Catholics do not believe in divorce and marrying without annullment is considerd adultery in their eyes. I hope this helps. I had a cousin who just went through this and the process of her fiance filing and getting first marriage annulled was too lengthy and they just decided to get married in another church. For she is catholic but he was not, so they got married at his church.

Yes. They can check. But if you are getting married in a Catholic church, please do not try to lie to them in the process as they can and have refused to marry people who do that.

Please, have enough respect for yourself, your fiance, the sacrament of marriage, the Church, and God to not cover up a previous marriage.
A previous marriage will invalidate the new marriage whether the priest knows about it or not.
With love in Christ.

I guess there is a way but I don't think a priest would.

Don't think anyone would bother to check. They just rely on your honesty. Why would someone lie? What purpose would it serve? Just doesn't make sense.
