There are a number of things that can help a player get to the basket quicker. Obviously a quiker first step, the explosive movment that first starts a players drive to the hoop will help. But ball handleing is just as important. If your not under control it doesn't matter how fast you are. Also good court vision is essential, seeing the gaps between defenders and the correct angles to drive. Having a decent outside shot doesn't hurt as it forces the defence to respect and comit to the player further away from the basket.

this is what i do because i play basktball.I always find a player better than me and challenge them in the gym.this helps me to know what to do in the future when you are playing against someone..and you gotta run laps and dont forget to time yourself when you do it
