Given by the look of some of the women footballers I see training on a thursday night I'd imagine that most of them do need jock straps as some of them may be of indeterminate gender.
Mind you, given the unfit bunch of misfits (of which I am proud to be a part) that play in our game, the she-men are probably looking at us wondering if we need sports bras to support our man boobs!

Information for the ladies..jockstraps are not for "protecting" ... a football in the groin hurts just the same whether you are wearing one or not! They are simply for supporting yourself so your parts dont flap around when you run. Exactly like a sports bra, in fact.
