Chris Bosh, Duane Wade and Lebron.

Before I say who it is, I'll prove who it isn't...

First, and foremost, it isn't the most overrated player in the NBA, Mr. Dwayne Wade.

Yes, he is amazing at the basket, an excellent defender and an able passer, but he has shown inability to create his own shot from the perimeter, his three point shooting is horrid with his .273 percentage. Most importantly, he didn't carry the Heat through the playoffs. He carried them in the Finals against an overmatched team. The Heat built themselves a Championship team with crafty veterans, using a formula that didn't work for the Lakers. Dwayne Wade is a winner, but he's not the best player because he's not the most complete player.

Lebron James did carry his team into the playoffs, but he's not clutch like Dwayne and can't hit a free throw to save his life, ESPECIALLY when it matters. Lebron isn't a winner... yet. So he's not the best player in basketball.

Kevin Garnett is the second most complete player in the NBA, but since he can't carry his team to where they should be, he can't be the best.

Tracy McGrady is definately carrying the Rockets this year, but he's so injury proned, I keep waiting for his back to just give out.

Steve Nash is the best offensive weapon in the NBA but doesn't play defense, nothing more needs to be said.

Tim Duncan is probably the second or third best player in the NBA, because he wins, and can do whatever it takes to win. But he's not as explosive as he used to be and has been shut down at times this season. Plus I've always thought he doesn't have the passion it takes to be the best.

Jason Kidd can do everything... except win when it matters. Of course, he's had the pieces around him and not come through, but his team is often injury riddled anyway. Kidd is probably the best overall point gaurd of all time, second only to Magic. But even with such lofty comparisons, he's still no...

Kobe Bryant! He's a winner, that's for sure. He's carried his team on his own shoulders and won, he's let his teamates do the work and won. Someone above said it best... who else can score 81 points? Kobe Bryant is the most complete player in the NBA, has the total package, and therefore is the best player. The only knock against him was that he was too selfish, but he's proven otherwise this year, and even though the Lakers are on a slide right now, it'd only take one great trade (like Kidd) to turn things around. And if that doesn't happen, Kobe can go back to doing it alone.

Yep, definitely Kobe. And for all the Kobe haters out there, he has the support of Michael Jordan himself and many other players including Dirk Nowitzki, Amare Stoudemire, Lebron James, Charles Barkley, his Laker teammates, Byron Scott, etc.

Kobe is no doubt the best offensive player in the game right now. He has the talent to create his own shot and shoot over anybody from anywhere. He's a relentless scorer and now has a become a better teammate. His footwork is unparalleled and a great finisher at the basket. Just a complete offensive player.

His defense isn't as great as his offense, but he's still known as one of the best defensive guards of all time. If you watch him play star guards like Wade, Vince Carter, Lebron, etc. He's has great defensive awareness and great at denying the ball.

So basically Kobe's the best player in the nba and arguably the best of all time. That's right people, I'll be waiting for some hate mail of how MJ is the best.

of course Kobe can make fancy dunks and is a high percentage shooter but he only comes on in the fourth quarter where he can try to be the big hero and takes over usually loosing the game. He is not a team player and basketball is a team sport just ask the Suns who with Steve Nash has made the game fun to watch because they are a team.

It's extremely hard (MAYBE IMPOSSIBLE) to take a player in the NBA and call him the best out of everyone in the NBA...

sure... this years leading candidates for MVP can be mentioned, and are probably now down to: Dirk Nowitzki of the Mavs, Steve Nash of the Suns, Kobe Bryant of the Lakers, Chris Bosh of the Raptors and Gilbert Arenas of the Washington Wizards, also Tim Duncan of the spurs deserves some consideration as well....

but i think that MVP and best player are different.... Because there are some player with better raw talent who aren't having MVP seasons, (namely Dwayne Wade or Lebron James

i think when you think of best player - you gotta look at guys who are very well rounded....
the first name that comes to mind there for me is Dirk Nowitzki...
the 7 footer who can drive and sink 3 balls...
but then this is the guy who has been known for years as IRK NOWTIZKI (cuz he left the D at home)

then there's raw talent....Dwyane, Lebron, Kobe and to an extent Chris Paul
these guys are the most talented... are they the best? maybe?!

Finally there's one other player who deserves "BEST PLAYER" consideration...
that is Kevin Garnett of the Minnesota Timberwolves, who really needs a scenery change to show that he's still got stuff left in the tank, and really should be considered in the best player race...

anywayz... i'll sum it up with a personal top 10 of who i think is the best in the NBA

10.Chris Bosh
9.Chris Paul
8.Gilbert Arenas
7.Tim Duncan
6.Steve Nash
5.Dwayne Wade
4.Dirk Nowitzki
3.Kevin Garnett
2.Kobe Bryant
1. Lebron James

Even With that list, it's controversal and i missed elite guys, so honourable mentions go out to
(honourable mentions)
Tmac, VC, Allen Iverson, and Chauncy - who also have a ton of raw talent
J-Kidd, Elton Brand, Carmello Anthony, Ron Artest and Matrix (shawn marion) for being well rounded...
and
Yao Ming, Amare Stoudamire, Shaq, Emeka Okafor, Dwight Howard and even Ben Wallace for just being huge...

T-Mac. Or more between Kobe and T-Mac. The two true best swingmen in the game right now. They were the best a few years ago, but ppl forget them because of their ups and downs the last season(s). All this commotion about Wade and James is nonsense. And Arenas? He's simply a joke. Best players are either Centers or Two Guards.

And another thing...all these two guards that everyone is throwing out...whos team has the best record? uh...T-mac?

Adam C said it best.

Kobe is the complete package, take u off the dribble, post u up, finish, shoot, everyone said it right, he's the most dangerous guy when it matter most. If you were down by 1 who would u want to take the last shot? Everyone that broadcast the game say it: KOBE! He'll knock down the three, the two, take u to the whole.

Wade can shoot, pass, def, but he can't shoot 3. James can't shoot free throw or is not a clutch shooter, arenas is a clutch shooter but not a great passer or def or post up. KG can post pass reb but not the clutch shooter, There's only one

...and that's KOBE BRYANT...if u think so, tell me what's wrong with him???

I'm gonna go in a different direction. I'm gonna go with Dirk Nowitzki. Not just because I love the Mavericks. But tell me what other NBA player is a 7-footer, can shoot 40% in 3's, get you nearly 10 rebounds a game, score 25 a contest, post up, penetrate to the lane, distribute the ball, come up with a steal or two and a block or two? I rest my case. Dirk for MVP!

a great player makes his team great- when shaq left LA they did not win anymore championships.

but miami did !!! because shaq moved to that team -

someone like allen iverson is a great player - but he cant carry a team to a championship win- shaq could do that - so he's better than kobe-

but shaq is not my choice- going back a bit BILL RUSSELL while playing on the celtics won 11 (ELEVEN) RINGS.

so dont look at the individual flashy dunks- leading a team to championships is what counts.
