You aren't providing enough information.

Is this a triangular base? A rectangular base? Are the sides perpendicular?

If it is a rectangular block -- then the volume is 4*8*3 = 96

The formula for volume is DIFFERENT for different shapes. Because you didn't provide enough information in your question, you won't get the correct answers. Also, I am assuming h=8 is your "height" ? So, "altitude is 3cm" is ALSO a height ?

I'm going to GUESS that you have to figure out the DIFFERENCE in volume of two different objects. If so, here are some formulas for volume;

Cube V=B*H*W = B^3 = H^3 = W^3
Rectangular box V=B*H*W
Pyramid V=(1/3)(B)^2(H)

Where V=Volume, B=Base (also called Length "L"), H=Height, and W=Width.

Plug your numbers in. Subtract the final volume from the initial volume, and you will have the DIFFERENCE in volume.

Hope this helps...Good Luck !
