I was little when my dad died and I was wanting to know the exact events around his death and I was wanting to know if there was a free site where I could go and find maybe like news reports about it or just any info about him. His family wont talk to me and I dont think my mom knows alot, but she has told me what she knows. It was in 1996 and I am having trouble finding anything that dates back that far. If anyone knows of a website I could try, that would just be great. Thanks

He was shot, but I was young and wanted to know what news reports said and just have some peace with this. But it was a murder.

Well there are all kinds of websites that you can pay and do a background check on just google people search and you'll find all kinds. Read them carefully and look for the one that offers the most info. This will list addresses, relitives, court info, devorices, weddings etc. Then you can try just googling his name and see what comes up also google the year, date, and city or state where he lived and see what comes up. There are all kinds of websites but for example where I live nothing has been put on the computers but if you live in a bigger city most of them have court records and newspapers on the internet for free so you could do your own background check.

If you're still in the town where he died, you can go to the local library and read through old newspapers they have archived. They're probably on microfiche (sp?). If you have the exact date of death, it's going to make it much easier. Check the obituaries first, then just read the papers and see if you can't find an article about it. Good luck!

Yes, try the library. Get newspapers from the town he was in around the time he died, if the cause of death was newsworthy (like a car wreck or some other accident).

Board of Health will not reveal the Cause of Death on the Certificate
First check the Social SEcurity DEath Index, its possible he is still alive. Then check Zabasearch to see if his name, age comes up with him living somewhere. If he has a regular name its harder, if he has an unusal name its easier.
Do you know his SSN #?

go to your local newspaper website and see if you can get information from the death notice postings. You may have to go to their archieves and/or the paper in person. This will give you a starting point via where and possibly why. good luck

go to your local library and search through the periodicals. try searching on the internet - google it - but you would find more reliable info at the library.
