Canadians are extremely polite.
And helpful, if you need to know something, or directions.
However, they are also very reserved, not friendly and open.
(don't confuse the politeness for friendliness, they are two seperate things). It's kind of nice to be around people so polite and ... well, mannerly. Manners seem "out" in the U.S.

I get tired of being looked down on by canadians though, just because i happen to be from the U.S. As soon as they know I am American, they apologize ... but I am constantly overhearing conversations dissing americans, or sometimes remarks made right to me in a waiting room or something.

There awesome-ehh? I've gone to Canada fishing for 10+ years and the term "Minnesota Nice" does not compare to the Canadians I've meet. They are very down to earth, can have a fun time....I don't know what they're like in their big cities.....but they are a A compared to America's B- We also have a few Canadian friends who've moved down here (MN) and they are very friendly and active. --deffintly NOT lazy.

I've always thought of Canadians as being similar to Americans honestly. I know that there is quite a bit of ethnic diversity in Canada and that people in certain parts speak French, but I've never really heard of any stereotypes about them. My good friend and her family moved to the U.S. from Canada and they didn't really act any different than my own family.

They worry about how others perceive them, and worry that they're seen in a worse light than Americans because they're not as loud and brash.

I wouldn't worry, almost everybody outside of North America dislikes Americans and like Canadians - they're more polite and less egotistical and aggressive.

I mostly like us, lol!
depends where you go, here in alberta there is a real redneck problem, anti-gay, anti-native attitudes are too prevalent, and the police are literally useless, but otherwise, we have a great education system, good healthcare, and people are generally kind, friendly, and helpful.
