What's the best way to get rid of the smell in shoes? They're his favorite and doesn't just want new ones (a.k.a. doesn't want to throw them away).

My hubby has a smelly pair of tennys too. You have several options to fight the odor. You can insert odor eaters, they really work, but you have to replace them once they have absorbed all of the odor that they can. My hubby's shoes are leather and using any liquid inside of them leaves a water stain on the leather so Fabreeze and Lysol didn't work too well and left me with a stain to remove. You can also put regular talc powder, Borax or baking soda inside of his shoes, but my hubby doesn't like the feel of it even with socks on his feet. He can spray deoderant on his feet before putting on his socks or in his shoes. (If you can get him to do it you'll find other shoes and slippers he wears don't get so smelly either.) You can also put dryer sheets inside his shoes when he isn't wearing them.

sprinkle baking soda in them and let it set for several hours or overnight. vacuum out in morning. (it may be the insert of the shoes is holding oder. Take them out and buy some padded shoe inserts.)

I'm like a febreeze addict today....every answer I have involves febreeze (but thats because it works). I believe Dr. Scholls also makes deoderizing insoles (for future foot odor eliminantion)

its proven that if u lick ur feet 20 times a day, the odor goes away. it helps to have different taste buds scratch the surface, so maybe ask a loved one to join in.
