there is no leatherface. leatherface was based on the murderer ed gein, who did things with his victims bodies, but he never used a chainsaw.

audrey is correct. On IFC (Independent Film Channel) they occasionally run a movie called Ed Gein. It is very interesting and from what I understand pretty accurate.
