A metric ton is 1000 Kg.
The English Short Ton is 2000 pounds.
the English Long Ton, (used in shipping and transportation mostly), is 2240 pounds.
The English Long ton and the Metric Ton are essentially the same.
Remember that the English Ton is based on Force Units, while the Metric Ton is based on Mass Units.
If you want the English Ton in mass units you must divide by 32 to convert pounds to SLUGS. If you want the Metric Ton in Force Units you must multiply 9.8 to convert Kilograms to Newtons.
