The culture allows a man to marry up to 4 wives; however, there are certain rules and guidelines they must follow. Each wife is to be treated equally. Each wife has her own house that is similar to the other wives. If a man gives one wife something he must give the other wives the same or similar. A man must be able to financially support his wives. Their culture views it as a status if a man can afford a second wife. If a wife can not produce a male baby the man will usually take a 2nd wife. I have spent time in the Middle East and I have known some families like this. There are problems however it is just accepted. There is jealousy amongst the wives at times. I personally know a woman who is the 1st wife and she can not give her husband a son so he took a much younger wife in order to have a son. The 1st wife feels like she has let her husband down. It is just their culture and it has been this way for centuries. Polygamy is very common in Africa as well. In some of the remote areas of Africa polygamy is a social way of life. Their villages are set up in a social community style where it is an extended family. Every one has a certain role and they practice polygamy in order to ensure there is as many children born as possible. The family units work together in the fields. Again it is just an accepted way of life. Who is to say that monogamy is right and polygamy is wrong or vise versa. I think whatever works for a certain culture then that is the right way for them.

it's another world time and place!!!its like the lottery they can not gamble or make any profit according to Islam!!but they do...they all have there own little bits they take out and use for there own benefit's its a open book as long as you do nothing wrong!!!

they are aloud to do that al long as each wife is treated the same and paid the same.

why do the WOMEN consent to this atrocity?Do they think these men are special?-Cant happen in America,only in 'those' countries.
