George Lucas made Star Wars, so does that make him an expert on Space Travel?

Why isn't George Lucas petitioning the US government to start producing light sabers?

Just because you made a movie about something doesn't mean you know anything about it. Besides, I think Star Wars is more of a documentary than Al Gore's movie.

No, he's not an expert. He is just a politicians trying to stir up some base that he thinks he has. However, if he wins an Academy Award for his movie, the left will use this as proof it is truthful, not that the award is based on truth.

Al Gore's as much an expert on Global Warming as George W. Bush is on the Koran.

You're right, making a movie doesn't make you an expert. But Gore never claimed to be a global warming expert. However, he was smart enough to talk with all those scientists who really are experts.

Why do you suppose his film is Oscar-nominated for the year's best documentary? It's already won 14 other major awards. And it has one of the highest ratings of any documentary ever made, according to the Internet Movie Data Base.

Have you actually seen Gore's film? It sounds like you may find in it an inconvenient truth about your own world.

Yeah, star wars is just like the war against terrorism. I guess Bush Senior is Darth Vader?

Wait, the Empire are the guys who control the world, so does that make the Rebels terrorists?

Maybe it's a pro-confederate movie.

Oh yeah, global warming, almost forgot. Well, he's no real experience as a scientist, but when is the last time we had a president with any real political training or military experience?

Oh yeah, it was George Senior, worst Republican since Coolidge.

where was i...

Yeah, I'd have to say Lucas knows six times more about space travel though because there are six star wars movies that he produced.

A) Al Gore didn't make the movie, he was the subject of it.

B) Al Gore doesn't specifically ever claim to be an expert himself. What he's doing is giving presentations and trying to affect policy based on the information that experts (scientists) are returning conclusions on.

So, your point is moot because the facts don't match your perception of reality.

Edit: Hey Wingshooter! Your inability to check your sources is showing. That's an opinion piece by a person who is indirectly employed by the oil industry.

how many stars did George Lucas research and how many years did he research them before making Star Wars??
Star Wars is a movie.
George Lucas made that movie.
George Lucas is an expert at making movies. nice spin though, but very illogical.

Al Gore has been researching Global Warming, and sorting through the data that people who want to say it doesn't exist, are too lazy to do.
he obviously didn't put all that info together without learning a little about each fact.

And Al Gore never stated he invented the internet.

as far as that Tim Ball mentioned above, i have yet to see any journals published by him on experiments that prove his OPINION on global warming is anything but OPINION.
without hard evidence, a scientist's OPINION is far less sound, than Al Gore's ideas about global warming, that is backed by scientific data.

Interesting comparison. Let me take it a little further.

George Lucas may not be an expert in how to program computers to create the effect of a light saber, but he works closely with people who are the experts and he is very talented at displaying their hard and complicated work.

Just like George, Al may not be an expert on everything that goes into global warming, but he knows and works with the scientists who do and he is very good at displaying their work.

You're an idiot. Al Gore made a documentary. George Lucas made a fictional film. Al Gore did his research. George Lucas used his imagination.

I'm sure he hasn't done any research, but he's probably done a lot of reading on the subject.

When a politician does ANYTHING you can bet it's for political reasons though, and will definitely have a political slant.

For instance I don't think that anyone believes that Michael Moore's films are documentaries.
