Jeter by far is the best S/S. Reyes needs to hang around long enough to put up Jeter like numbers before he is put in the same category. Some will even say that A-Rod is still a better S/S then the other two but I don't agree. Right now it's number "2" in pinstripes.

No. He will never be supplanted until he retires. Jeter own Reyes, in all aspects of the game. Jeter's a better hitter, fielder, all - around player, and teammate. I still laugh at Reyes getting taunted in the Cardinals locker room last year when they won the NLCS.
Jeter is a guy who goes 100% every play. Reyes hasn't gone 50% in his career. Not being a racist, but hispanics have a tendency to go 50%, instead of 100%.

Derek Jeter. He was on four World Championship Yankees teams. Reyes doesn't match up to that. If Reyes can lead the Mets to four World Series Championships, then Reyes will be right up there with Jeter. I don't think that Jeter will be replaced. How do you replace a shortstop that was on a team, that played a role in the Yankees four World Series Championships? The only way he could is if he does the same. He is a good shortstop, but not as good as Jeter.

Good question! I have to go with Reyes in 08. I think he is more complete than Jeter with his offensive abilities putting on top. But watch out for Ramirez down in FL. He's only a half step behind Reyes.

Its a close one. Reyes is really the future, but you can't overlook the staying power and the leadership that Jeter displays on a daily basis.
I'll give Jeter the victory...by a ring.

Derek Jeter should have won the AL MVP last year... Reyes has got more pop but when you look at the things that Jeter has accomplished with the Yankees, it's hard to imagine anyone doing the same...

Career wise it is not fair to compare these two. Jose Reyes is 23.
2006 I would say Jose Reyes was the more productive SS. I think Jose Reyes will continue to put up the better numbers each year but it will take years before he is generally considered better...not to mention a world series championship or two.

By 2008, Reyes will not have 4 rings, so Jeter for sure.
